Julian
Julian has been dancing since the age of 10 and is now one of Australia’s best ballroom dancers and a rising talent, having represented Australia on the world stage as well as making successful TV appearances and being part of renowned shows alongside some of the world’s best dancers. Julian has always had a strong passion and desire to dance which was enhanced whilst studying at Newtown Performing Arts High School, where he studied ballet, contemporary and jazz throughout his schooling.
Julian is a New Zealand, Victorian and Tasmanian Under 21 Latin American Champion. Another of Julian’s great achievements was representing Australia at the biggest competition in the world, the Blackpool Dance Festival. In 2015 and 2016, Julian with his partner Lily Cornish were ranked as the highest Australian couple, and in 2016 made the top 50 in the world out of 300 couples.
Julian was also part of So You Think You Can Dance Australia Season 4 in which he made it to the top 40, and has made TV appearances on Studio 10.
Julian has danced as part of some of the world’s best shows and travelled the world in doing so. He was part of the 2014 cast of the hit ballroom show ‘Burn the Floor’ which was based out of New York City, in which he played a leading role. Julian has also been part of the most recent season of ‘Shake Rattle and Roll’ at Her Majesty’s Theatre in Melbourne as well as being part of the nationally successful show since it began in 2013.
Julian is also involved in the health and fitness industry. He currently holds a certificate III in health and fitness and is finishing his certificate IV in order to become a personal trainer whilst also preparing to begin his degree in exercise physiology at UNSW.
Julian has become very passionate about teaching, and instructs both group classes and private lessons. Julian has been training and partnering a number of his students in Teacher-Student events at major competitions, leading them to 1st place honours. He also teaches full-time dance students studying at the prestigious Ettinghausens Performing Arts School. With all this behind his belt, there is no wonder why he has been handpicked by Aric and Masha as the lead resident Latin instructor at MOVE. Julian is available for private lessons and shows.
