Alana Patience

Alana began her dancing journey at the tender age of 3, and ventured into ballroom by 10. By the age of 11 she was a National Juvenile finalist, and has since gone on to become an Australian Youth Latin Champion 2 years running, South Pacific Youth Latin Champion and an Australian representative to the World Championships. In her 20s, Alana has also added acting to the mix of her expertise, graduating from the Australian Academy of Dramatic Arts, and she toured the world with some of the biggest stage productions including Burn The Floor (touring around USA, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, New Zealand and Australia), as well as Dirty Dancing the Musical (residing at the iconic Beatrix theatre in Utrecht, Amsterdam)

Some of Alana’s greatest moments in her creative career have been on Channel 7’s longest running reality/variety show Dancing With The Stars. Alana has been a part of the show for 12 years, partnering the likes of Molly Meldrum and Larry Emdur, and going on to win the coveted mirror ball trophy two years running - once with Rob Palmer from ‘The Better Homes & Gardens’ and again with Manu Feildel from ‘My Kitchen Rules’. Alana’s whole life has been dance, and for her teaching dance means passing the greatest joy and passion that she has experienced in life.

Throughout her lasting career in dance, Alana has also always practiced Yoga as a way of staying physically and mentally fit and in tune with her body. It felt like a natural progression to her to get involved with Yoga on a deeper level, becoming a certified member of the world recognised Yoga Alliance. She has ventured to India - the birth place of Yoga - to undertake further comprehensive Yoga, Meditation and Philosophy teaching nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas. Although demanding both physically and emotionally, the teachings and the location brought a new spiritual understanding to her practice and mental conditioning.

Alana is very passionate in sharing her love for Yoga with all her students.

“I believe everyone has the right to be happy and free of physical and emotional suffering. But with that right, comes responsibility; to look after the body, mind and spirit that each one of us has been given.
Through discipline and self practice, Yoga, Meditation and Dance give us all the tools to one day reach a life that’s free of suffering”  - Alana Patience.

Alana is the resident Yoga instructor at MOVE. She is also available for private lessons, wedding dance lessons and shows.
